Carolyn Armbrust, MBA, ASA, CBA is the principal and founder of the business valuation and financial advisory firm The Axcess Group. She has achieved the Accredited Senior Appraiser designation from the American Society of Appraisers and the Certified Business Appraiser designation from the Institute of Business Appraisers.
In the course of her career, Ms. Armbrust has conducted over 300 professional valuation engagements of U.S. and international companies. Ms. Armbrust’s experience spans both public and private enterprises, valued from under $1 million to over $250 million, and she has served as an independent valuation advisor to numerous private companies in their securing minority and control level investments from private equity firms and multi-billion dollar public companies.
Previous to TAG, Ms. Armbrust led buy-side and sell-side investment banking engagements for New-York and Connecticut-based firms specializing in the media, information, and exhibition industries. Earlier in her career, Ms. Armbrust led and participated in M&A valuations and transactions for a division of Reed Elsevier, a $9 billion diversified media and information provider.
Ms. Armbrust holds a Master’s of Business Administration in Strategic Planning and Business Policy from the University of New Haven and a Bachelor of Arts in International Business and Foreign Languages from North Central College.

John A. Cento
Mr. Cento, CPA/ABV, ASA, CFF is a specialist providing business valuation services to clients and professional service firms nationwide. He has been associated with the Axcess Group as a Senior Valuation Consultant since early 2017. Mr. Cento is an Accredited Senior Appraiser with the American Society of Appraisers, Accredited in Business Valuation and Certified in Financial Forensics from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Cento has over 18 years of valuation, forensic, and accounting experience. He has been engaged to perform valuations for the purposes of divorce, shareholder disputes, buy-sell agreements, estate and gift tax returns, bank collateral, stock options and warrants, stock appreciation rights, and ESOPs. In addition, his experience in the valuation of intangible assets includes consumer brand names, international distribution rights, domestic licensing rights, industrial patents, contingent earnings, and music copyrights.
Mr. Cento has been the lead non-testifying analyst on several forensic accounting engagements including professional athlete compensation analysis, cardiologist compensation, healthcare provider receivables, healthcare provider valuations, business interruption insurance claim preparation, reconstructed personal financial statements, review of opposing valuation opinions, and the defense of a fraudulent financial reporting and disclosure claim.
Mr. Cento holds an MBA in Finance from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree, with majors in English and French, Summa Cum Laude, from Franklin College of Indiana.

Since 2011, Martha Gaudio has been the director of business consulting for The Axcess Group and is responsible for developing all aspects of business valuation engagements, including economic and industry research and analysis, business and financial analysis, and valuation development. She is a candidate member with the American Society of Appraisers, and leads various other financial advisory and strategic consulting engagements for TAG’s clients.
Ms. Gaudio is a financial, research and business analyst and has specialized in designing and implementing analytical models and processes to facilitate management-level decision-making and drive business results. She has a variety of experience across web/direct-to-consumer businesses, direct marketing, consumer products, foods, pharmaceuticals, biotech, professional sports, consulting, economic development and non-profit.
Ms. Gaudio holds a Master’s of Business Administration in Finance from New York University as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gettysburg College.
As senior analyst for The Axcess Group, Dawn Castaldi leads financial, economic, and industry research and analysis for the firm’s valuation engagements. In addition, she has contributed to identifying and analyzing acquisition targets for client roll-ups.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Castaldi started working with The Axcess Group as an associate, commencing in 2008.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Castaldi gained 10 years of experience as a financial analyst for a boutique investment banking firm, Segal & Co., Inc., and a telecom start up, Oceanic Digital. In these roles, Ms. Castaldi participated in growth capital raises, ranging from $1 million to $136 million, to finance organic and greenfield expansion opportunities. On these projects, she also conducted financial and operational analysis on start-ups in the telecom, aerospace, and technology industries.
Ms. Castaldi holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University, with a concentration in Communications.
Mr. Mulcahey is an associate of TAG and has been affiliated with the firm since 2012. He leads technology and administrative services, and contributes to financial data preparation and analysis.
Mr. Mulcahey attends the University of Connecticut, and is pursuing a degree in Finance from the School of Business.
